Our top looks were the Jack of Hearts by Darla, and the Joker by Regina. Two weeks in a row in OUR top looks ladies, great work!
The challenge:
Create a Tim Burton-esque character that represents one of the royal face cards.
Our concepts:
When beginning this challenge, I had trouble thinking about how to make the character I wanted in a Tim Burton style. I had a more macabre idea in mind, but when I started sketching, the Burton concept drove everything home! My King of Hearts is a toy, and his favorite heart-shaped button fell off of his chest. He has the needle, but no thread to put himself back together and sew up his empty chest. He keeps the needle in his soft head because it is a convenient place to store it and it helps numb his pain.
Seth took a realistic approach to a French revolutionary assassin. His Jack of Spades is a mysterious swordsman of the night. He donned a mask and painted a spade over his eye to represent the One-Eyed Jack, and always carries with him the Ace of Spades; the only card in the entire deck that was taxed by the government, as a reminder of the oppression that has ruled over him.
As always, feedback is welcome! Gotta love those Tim Burton challenges! Expect to see us on Twitter @RyTy18 and @seth842.
