Life and Death, 7.1

FACE OFF IS BACK!!
and you know what that means...SKETCHES

This season looks promising, and the Life and Death twist should make for some kick-ass creations!
My best friend, Seth Miller, has always been a fan of Face Off and my characters! This season, he decided to take the challenge with me and work on his creative skills during the show, so you will be seeing multiple sketches from both of us, as well as other artists that we might reach out to. I had spoken with several artists who sketch along with the show as well and I will highlight their works as they appear.

Now for what we did:
The challenge: Choosing the theme of Life or Death, create a character that represents that idea.

Shoutout to Cig and Dina for some fantastic designs! Gotta love those plant people!

Since we didn't have the randomness of prosthetics to work from, we allowed a random prompt generator to give us five phrases and we each would create a character to represent either Life or Death inspired by those phrases.
Our phrases were:
- a poem
- a ruined cathedral
- alone upon the threshold
- feathers
- worn with life's care

Our concepts: It seems that from these phrases, both of us felt compelled to do Angel-like characters, even though we didn't speak about it before. I had "life" so I wanted to create a very ethereal character, something from out-of-this-world. The "ruined cathedral" made me think of pieces of stained glass, and how those pieces could have come back together as the spirit of that place of worship. The hopes of everyone who used to pray there were not lost because the angel carries them with her and has always worked to deliver those messages and answer their prays as a beam of light through her glass body.
Seth had "death" and chose to play off the idea of the guardian angel...the figure is supposed to watch over you, and you assume they are there to protect you, but what if one is really haunting your every hour? Very Edgar Allan Poe-inspired, the elements of the Raven and impending death seem evident in this Dark Ages shadowy figure.

As always, feedback is welcome! We are tweeting along with the shows, so look for us on Twitter @RyTy18 and @seth842. Give us a shout out!
