Ancient Aliens, 7.3

The challenge: Inspired by ancient human structures, create a member of the alien race that visited them and helped to build their structures and culture.

Ok to be honest, both Seth and I were immediately like "Why would anyone choose the Indian structures?? They don't seem to have a strong alien influence." But you guys proved us wrong, those ended up being the best by far!

Both of us had also done several Egyptian inspired characters, but had not really done an Mesoamerican inspired character, so that led us to pick the "Pyramid of the Sun".

Our concepts: So Seth came up with this kick-ass concept: The Pyramid of the Sun was built in Teotihuacan. According to the art found there it is supposedly the Birthplace of the Gods. One of the beings supposedly there was the Great Goddess of Teotihuacan, and Mahuiztictlacatl is her guardian. Mahuiztictlacatl meaning "great man" was the source of inspiration for the Aztec Eagle Warriors. He came down with the Goddess. After the Aztecs saw how he guarded the Goddess with any means and any sort of brutality, they named some of they're strongest warriors after him. The Eagles.

The character that he developed was so cool, I used it to influence mine and I created the "Great Goddess" that he talked about, which is the queen of this alien race. The race is a bit avian, but also reptillian, inspiring both the Eagle warriors and the legends of Quetzalcoatl. The warriors that guard the queen cut off their serpent-like tails to prove their loyalty to her, and will slay anything that threatens her.
