Video of Morphs
Since this was a paired challenge on the show, I worked with my long-time friend, Gabbi Boyd: YouTuber, comedian, and creative confidant. She has been a huge supporter of mine, and we always bounce our ideas for new projects off of each other. I approached her about working on this with me, and she was excited to help develop this character because I struggle when it comes to aliens!
Our concept: We decided that our planet was a warm and tropical environment. The dominant species shares similarities with plants. When a large volcano erupted, it kicked up enough ash and dust to block the rays from the sun. The burning pieces of ash and rock rained down on this intergalactic-Pompeii. Our specimen is a surviving female. She has burns on her body from small ashes that were in the air and larger rocks that were flying about. Her leaves have started to wilt and die because she is no longer recieving the sunlight necessary to survive, and the weather has started to get colder. Her breathing organs have filled with a black-liquid due to the pollution in the air she is breathing.
This turned out to be a fun challenge to work on! I am not a big fan of aliens because they are so limitless, but working with Gabbi made it exciting. We gave her roots for a mouth to ingest nutrients, and lots of leaves protruding from her body to gather energy.
