WE'RE BACK!
After a great winter holiday, Seth and I are back up and creating for this new season of Face Off! The contestants are already off to a great start, and we are so happy to see Laura, Rayce, and Anthony back! Rooting for all of them.
The challenge: Based on an alien crash site, create two life forms that might have come from that...TWIST: The aliens landed on a planet dominated by monkeys, and their king is not happy...
Our concepts: What a way to start this season?! My aliens hatched out of the gross eggs. The "Helminths" are a parasitic race that hatch out as large raptor-like worms. The larvae chase down their prey and feast on them, growing to three times their birth size. After feeding, they enter a hibernation stage and emerge as a fully developed worker with keratin scale armor and developed hive-mind mentality. The Helminths invade planets and dominate the native species in order to usurp their resources and lay their eggs in a massive hive at the core to ensure longevity. Krak is the king of the baboons on the "Planet of the Apes" and is equally intelligent and aggressive. Krak's army is struggling to protect their resources and to slow the growth of the invading species.
(*deep breath*)
Seth's concepts are based on the alien escape ship crash site with gold scattered about. Two members of an alien species that the universe has nicknamed, "The Reapers", exit. The scout and brute are sent by their miserly king to investigate the wealth of the planet. Their species has evolved with a thirst for greed and war that their faces have almost completely melted away, leaving little need for emotion. The warriors will arrive at a planet that has valuable ore and will destroy everything in their path until scouts and miners can reap every last prize from the natural inhabitants. The king of this planet, Ateles, is a Spider Monkey. He is a cunning leader and a methodical warrior. His two right arms are agile and swift, while his left arm is built stronger than the rest. This balance rules his leadership decisions, but the coming of the Reapers has tipped his scales towards war.
